  • Special Award

    Sun 17 Dec 2017 Ms S Stafford
I am very grateful to the parents in Year 4 who had the idea to nominate Brody in Cougar Class for a special reward.  Mrs Barnett, one of our parent governors emailed me on behalf of other parents to ask me if I would nominate Brody.  Brody is an extremely kind, hard working young man who is a brilliant friend to all members of his class.  Not only that, he is dealing with a very tough time as his little brother Bobby is seriously ill with cancer.  Bobby should have started attending our nursery in September but instead has had to undergo a lot of difficult treatment and is having to have a serious operation during the Christmas holidays meaning that Christmas will be a difficult one for Brody and his family.  We all wish Bobby well and are delighted that Teachers UK and Mansfield Town have given the reward to Brody, meaning that on Saturday 16th December (the day after his birthday) Brody will have a super time being a Stags Mascot for the match on Saturday.  Sammy the Stag, Mansfield Town & Teachers UK came to present the award with Brody's family also enjoying the celebration.  Below you can see some pictures of Brody with his class, his Dad, Mrs Barnett(our parent governor) and the children of the parents who asked for the nomination.  Hope you have a great time Brody!

  • School Choir

    Sun 17 Dec 2017 Ms S Stafford
Our School Choir have been very busy singing at the John Eastwood Hospice and Kings Mill Hospital.  Many thanks to Mrs Edwards, Mr and Mrs Kendrick and our parent volunteers who took them along.  Their singing has been very well received as was their company with the citizens they chattered to.  We can be very proud of our kind and friendly children.  Below you can see a lovely thank you letter school received and some photos of the children singing at Kingsmill Hospital.  Thank you to all our parents and carers who came along to support us.  The children also managed to raise over £120 for the John Eastwood Hospice.
  • Improving our school grounds - Tree Planting!

    Sun 17 Dec 2017 Ms S Stafford
Wow it was cold and snowy on Monday 11th December, but Year 5 braved the weather for us to plant 10 trees in the school grounds thanks to a grant given to us by the Greenwood Project from the Nottinghamshire County Council Conservation Team.  The team supported the children in planting 7 trees on the Key Stage 2 playing field which Mr Price is currently fencing in to make a wildlife area for the children. Other trees have been located on the KS1 field and there are more due in March to compliment the willow area.  The trees will provide much needed shady areas for the children and offer variety amongst the school grounds for the children to play in.  The forest area Mr Price has created by the chickens will be launched after Christmas, but the children have already been making all kinds of things for it such as animal homes and signs.  The beautiful sign in the picture below was made by Stanley in Year 5.  Thank you Stanley.  Looking forward to seeing the children enjoy these areas as the warmer weather comes.  Look out for the tree planting pictures in the Chad.
