Below you will find weekly learning packs which will provide you with a range of learning activities for the week ahead. 

Don't forget to upload the set piece of work on to seesaw for me to see as well as complete the tasks from Purple Mash.

Seesaw Support 

We are using Seesaw, which is a secure online digital learning platform, to accompany our new home learning projects which will be available each Monday.

Ideas for home learning.

 

Below you will find a range of websites to support your child in their learning from home. All sites are suitable for both year 5 and year 6 children. 

We will update these weekly to provide variety and support a range of topics.

Welcome to year 5 and 6

 

We have a fantastic year ahead of us and can't wait to work with you all. 

 

Miss Kennedy will teach us on a Monday. 

Mrs Holt will teach us Tuesday-Friday 

Mrs Hill will teach us on a Thursday afternoon. 

 

Mrs Carter and Mrs Blake will also help with our learning.

Useful Information

 

Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.

Times Tables and spelling tests are on a Monday

Homework is given out on Thursdays and is due in the following Tuesday.

Please ensure your child reads 3 times a week and that this is recorded in their diary. I will check and sign diaries every Tuesday morning. 

 

Children who have read at least 3 times will receive a raffle ticket with the chance of winning a book during Praise Assembly each week.  

Our topics this year will be:

 

Autumn Term

Autumn 1 – Fever, Fire and Fashion – History focusing on The Plague

Autumn 2 – Battle of Britain – History focusing on World War 2

 

Spring Term

Spring 1 – Poles Apart – Geography and Science focus on friction/forces

Spring 2 – Who’s Taking Control? Robots – Science focus on electricity

 

Summer Term

Summer 1 – Our Commonwealth (British Empire) – Geography focus

Summer 2 – Voyage of Discovery – Science focus on Darwin, Adaption and selection

SATs Tests – There will be a meeting later in the year to discuss the tests in more detail, however the test dates are Monday 11th May 2020 – Thursday 14th May. Please DO NOT book any holidays during this week.

 

Residential – The year 5 and 6 residential to Walesby has been booked for Monday 15th June 2020 – Wednesday 17th June – a further letter will follow about this.

 

Trips

We have booked 2 trips during the autumn term, further letters will follow, however the dates of the trips are:

Tuesday 1st October – Eyam – The Plague Village

Thursday 5th December - The Holocaust Centre in Laxton
