Welcome to Sir Ernest Shackleton Class - Year 5 & 6

Hello and welcome to Upper Key Stage Two! This page will have lots of information for you as we progress through the year. We are the Sir Ernest Shackleton Class which is a mixture of Year 5 and Year 6. Together we can achieve beyond our wildest imagination and go beyond expectations. It will be a fabulous year. If you do need any help with anything at all or have any questions about what work we are doing, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Sir Ernest Shackleton Class:

Mr Thorne teaches us Monday to Friday. Mrs Carter supports our class Monday to Thursday and teaches ICT and French to us on a Monday afternoon.

Useful Information:

Uniform: Please ensure that your child is in the correct uniform. Jewellery is not allowed at school with the exception of simple studs only. These must be removed independently for PE or taped up.

PE: Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday. On these days, please send your child in their PE kit.

Homework: Homework is given out every Thursday and should aim to be returned (completed) the following Tuesday.

Year 6 SATs:

According to the DfE, SATs will take place in 2022. There will be a meeting later in the year to discuss these in more detail. The dates for SATs are: Monday 9th May 2022 - Thursday 12th May 2022. Please do not book any time off for holidays during this period.

Each term, you will receive a newsletter telling you more information about each topic as well as our brand new Knowledge Organisers! These provide you with 'Subject Specific Vocabulary' and 'Sticky Knowledge' that your child will be learning throughout the topic.
