A visit from Nurser Buttery

Visit from Sarah Bennett our Police Community Support Officer

We had a visit from our local Police Community Support officer, Sarah Bennett. She spoke with us about what her job involved, how the police can help us, different modes of transport, catching bad guys and helping us all. Sarah shared her uniform with us and we were surprised at how heavy it was, weighing over a stone. We spoke to another officer over the radio and looked at all the different equipment telephones, cameras and radios Sarah needs to help her do her job.

Thank you for all the effort you have made with dressing up today. The children looked wonderful. We have spoken together about what Red Nose Day is & why we are trying to raise money. The children found the video clips on the BBC website really interesting and quite thought provoking, they generated lots of questions.

We listened and joined in with the song, ‘ Put a nose on it’ which I have included on the video.

We have taken photos for you all to see!

Gareth Baker- World Book Day

We loved our story session with Gareth Baker. We helped him to build and start a campfire using magic words and sticks. We then listened to him tell the gingerbread man story, we loved it! We joined in with the actions and parts of the story, he made it a very exciting experience for us all and we were desperate for another story after!
The Lion's and Tiger's had great fun today, learning all about pancakes, helping to mix the batter and then cooking and eating it. The children were all very excited and we were all very thankful to Mr Smith who helped with the cooking of the 45 pancakes!

Friday Parent Reading sessions

What a wonderful way to start the day. It was so lovely to see so many of you and the children to be so enthusiastic about the visitors to the class. Thank you all so much for coming and welcoming groups of children to come and listen to your stories. What a wonderful community we have at Dalestorth. Thank you for helping us show how important reading is to us all and that it is a great activity for us to do altogether. We will hopeful see you again very soon.

Mr Fretwell Music sessions on a Tuesday

Mr Fretwell is now visiting the Lion's and the Tiger's on a Tuesday afternoon, where we sing our song of the week and have opportunity to practise our makaton. We have opportunity to use different musical instruments such as boomwackers, explore different sounds and take part in listening challenges.

Rock Steady Workshop

We were visited by Rock Steady and participated in a workshop. It was absolutely fantastic. The children got to see lots of instruments a guitar, drums, keyboard & vocals on a microphone; some even got to touch & use them. We could have spent the whole day learning about music we were really enthusiastic & engaged with the activity
