Here is the learning pack for this week. The Whiterose Maths worksheets are no longer free for parents to download from their website, but we have a school subscription, so we have added them below. There is also an adjective and common exception word mat that might be useful this week.
Look forward to seeing all your exciting work on Seesaw this week.
We are using Seesaw, which is a secure online digital learning platform, to accompany our new home learning projects which will be available each Monday.
Below are video guides to show you: how to set up an account; how to upload work to Seesaw and how to comment on a child's piece of work. There is also a written guide below.

Spring Term 2019
Sport Relief 2020
For Sport Relief we came to school dressed in our sports kit as we ran the Sport Relief Mile. We had great fun skipping, star jumping, hopping and ‘conga-ing’ around the playground. We have raised lots of money for Sport Relief, whilst having great fun!
World Book Day 2020
This year to celebrate World Book Day we dressed up as an exciting adjective or verb. Everyone put in so much effort to create their costumes and we learnt some wonderful new vocabulary. Check out of vocabulary in our Puma Class word art.
Paul Cookson came to visit.
Today the poet Paul Cookson came to work with us all day. We enjoyed an amazing assembly this morning, where he performed some of his best, oldest and newest poems. We got to join in and become part of his performance. Then we all enjoyed a workshop with him, where we wrote a poem as a group. Year One wrote a poem about arctic animals and what they get up to. Year Two wrote a poem about all the yucky food left on the dining hall floor after lunch! In the afternoon, we work in small groups in Puma class to produce out own poems based on Pauls work. A great day had by all.
Time Tables Rock Star Day
We rocked out to launch our new maths initiative!
We had a fantastic day learning how to log on, choosing our rock star name and beginning to earn coins.
In Puma Class, we can play either Numbots or Times Tables Rock Stars.
NumBots is an online game which is designed to significantly improve children’s recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts.
Times Tables Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables!
We are taking part in fortnightly competitions against other classes in school to see who can earn the post points! Go Team Pumas!
A visit from some worms!
Lydia from Nottinghamshire County Council bought in some worms to show us how important they are for making compost. She talked to us about how they move, have babies and turn food waste into compost. We loved looking at the wriggly worms with the magnifying glasses!
Art Week
This week we have explored different art medias based on the theme of African Animals. We have constructed junk animals, painted sunset scenes and added silhouettes and we also made our own printing patters to match an animals skin.
Our topics this term are:
What do I need to be me? – We are learning about the way we and other animals change and grow, and the things we need to stay healthy. We will also be learning about changes within living memory and exploring how toys have changed over time.
Through the Keyhole – We will learn about significant people and places in the local area, and how their lives were different to ours.
Our P.E. days are Monday and Thursday. Please keep your PE kit in school for the half term, we will send it home on the last day of the half term for washing. P.E. days may change, so kit needs to stay at school all the time.
Praise Assembly
Our Praise Assembly is every Friday at 10.30am. If your child has been chosen to be in Praise Assembly, you will receive an invitation to come and watch from via a text. Please keep this a secret - don't spoil the surprise!
Please ensure you are lined up and ready to come into school at 8.50am. If they arrive after 8.50am they will receive a late mark.
What can you do to help?
Come and talk to us if you have any worries or concerns.
Read to your child and with them. Reading is a key skill in Year 2 and helps children to become successful, independent learners. Listening to your child read at least 4 times a week at home will ensure continued progress.
Use the Oxford Owls site to help your child with their reading.
Come in and help - we love to welcome parents to help with reading, baking, sewing etc.
Autumn Term 2019

Santa Visits School
We had an amazing time performing our Christmas play called 'I'm Gonna Shine'.
Today Puma class were visited by Santa's reindeer's. We learnt lots of interesting facts and had our photo taken with them. We even got to stroke them!
On science afternoon we had so much fun! We made potions, made a tornado in a glass, poked holes in water bags, made elephant’s toothpaste and made rainbow wine.
We had a fantastic time learning all about recycling during our visit from the Ashfield District Council waste team. We even got to look at a bin lorry up close and sat in the cab too!
