What can you do to help your child in FS2?
- Please let us know of any changes of circumstances at home that might impact your child in school. We are always happy to talk with you about any worries or concerns you may have. Please do write us a note, give the school office a ring or an email. We will get back in touch with you.
- Try and find the time to read with your child at home. Reading and retelling stories are important skills to develop as a child and the more often you can look at books together and share a story with them, the quicker they will develop their own independent reading skills. Please write in your child's reading diary when they have read with you. They will be rewarded with a raffle ticket for three or more reads at home and have the chance to win a book each week!
- Please help your child pratise their phonics by looking at the sounds and key words we send home in their plastic packs each week. You could go on a hunt around the house and see how many sounds or key words you can find then remember or simply look at the shape of the letters and help your child to recognise the different sounds in the words.
- Use the Oxford Owl website to help your child with their reading (please see the link below in the useful websites section). Please do access and enjoy this fabulous website - a free eBooks collection. Log in is at the top right of the webpage and our log in is: Username: dale tigers Password: tigers
- Count together! Count the number of steps, stairs, claps or any other movements you might make. You could count the clouds you see out of the window or how many pennies you find. Be imaginative and have fun with creating different games.
- Use Purple Mash. Purple Mash has lots of free learning resources for you and your child. Please use the link below in the useful websites section and then use your child's username and login which can be found in your child's school diary.
- Volunteer to help us! We would love for you to help us in school and be a part of the children's learning journey!
- Please ensure that your child's belonging are all named. This is a huge help to us in FS2!
- Keep inhalers up to date if your child uses one.
- Look out for head-lice and keep long hair tied back.
- Please make sure your child is well rested and goes to bed routinely each night at a sensible time.
- Check your child's book bag, class page and school website for letters and any other useful learning links we might send you.
