The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

On Thursday we had a super time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We had a whole school tea party on the playground yesterday afternoon. We took part in the ATTFE College’s unofficial world record for the world’s largest cream event. The children were treated to a scone with clotted cream and other delicious goodies, followed by traditional games on the field. The dining room looks great decorated with the children’s bunting.

On Friday, we came dressed up in yellow and green clothes to fit in with the whole school rainbow or we came dressed up in  costumes from the decades the 70s and the 80s.  We learnt about life in these decades, including what TV programmes were being watched and what toys there were at that time.

Author visit - Fay Evans

The talented author Fay Evans - Children's Author visited Dalestorth today. Fay inspired the children to read and write with her passion and love for books.

The children enjoyed listening to Fay read her books: ‘Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon’ and ‘Bob’s Beard’. They especially liked getting involved in the story telling.

Thank you Fay for a wonderful day!

Curie Class explored and talked about stories and celebrations of Hanukkah, Pesach and Sukkot. We found out what the stories told at these festivals mean and learnt how Jewish people celebrate each.

Harvest Festival

We enjoyed celebrating Harvest . We sang beautifully and enjoyed watching the other classes perform for us. We bought in so many donations for the John Eastwood Hospice and the homeless people of Mansfield. The amount we sent in was staggering. We listened to Pastor Simon as he spoke to us about the importance of giving thanks for all we have at this time of year.
