Girl's Football Tournament
The girl's team took part in a tournament against Croft and Greenwood schools. Despite losing the first game and our first ever match as a team, they pulled together and got better and better with each match played. We drew all three of the other games, with some wonderful goals by Olivia J. We are all so proud of the team, they never gave up and put in 100% effort! Well done everyone!
Football League Fixtures
This term we are taking part in the Kirkby League. So far we have played Broomhill Junior School away and despite playing well the team did not take their chances. We lost 3-0 against a strong and physical side. In our second game, we were more clinical and played well against Morven Park. Goals from Harry and JJ were enough to see the team to a 3-0 victory. I will keep you updated on our next results.
Netball vs Kirkby Woodhouse.
The Dalestorth netball team played their first match against Kirkby Woodhouse and what a game it was! All the children tried their very best and gave it 100% all the way through. It was a close tie, being 4-4 until the final five minutes where Kirkby Woodhouse just managed to score the deciding goal to win 4-5. Lola was voted player of the team by the Kirkby Woodhouse players for the four amazing goals she scored. Well done to all the children who took part, you have made us all so proud! Thank you for the wonderful parental support too, it was lovely to have you all there.
Inspirational visit from Charlotte Henshaw
It’s not every day you get a visit from a famous person, but today we did! Charlotte Henshaw, British Paralympic gold medallist, came to talk to us in assembly. She told us her story, about her life from being a child with a difference to becoming a bronze and silver medallist at swimming and then a gold medallist in canoeing. She even bought her shiny medals to show us! Her inspirational speech taught us that you can achieve things you never thought possible in life, if you are brave and give things 100 percent! What an amazing example of our Be Brave Bee she is! Who knows, one of us sat in that hall today could be a medallist in the making!
Potted Sports 2022
We had a wonderful time during our Potted Sports afternoon. Children from Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6 were split into teams and rotated around the activities, scoring as many points as they could for their team. The Year 6 children were amazing team leaders, supporting the younger children, demonstrating the activities and keeping score. We even managed a little dancing fun at the end. What a fun afternoon we had!
Both of these girls qualified for the finals after amazing performances in the first competition before Christmas. They went to Kingsway School to compete in the district finals, both coming within the top 20. What amazing performances! Well done girls!
Fustal Competition
These six children took part in a futsal competition against three other school. The showed amazing determination and made lots of progress as the competition went on. Well done everyone.

It was a super first experience for the team and we are now ready and rearing to go in our up and coming football tournament. Thank you to all our wonderful supporters and well done to all the girls and boys who played amazingly well.
Year 3 and 4 Personal Best
Nine Year 3 and 4 children took part in a Personal Best event hosted here at Dalestorth and run by our School Games Organiser, Glynn. They took part in eight different challenges, including sprint runs, star jumps and football dribbling. They tried hard to complete as many repetitions in the 30 second time allocation. They then repeated each of these, showing great determination to try and beat their previous score. Their positivity and resilience was wonderful to see and we are so proud of them all. It was amazing to finally be back hosting some competitive sport on school grounds. Well done to all.

19 Year 5 and 6 children represented Dalestorth at the District Cross Country event at Ashfield School on Wednesday 9th October. We entered 4 teams into this event with the B teams running 1100m and the A teams 1350m. All the children showed great perseverance and determination during their races, with fantastic individual and team efforts. A special well done to Olivia Wilson from Year 6 who came 6th in her race, which means she will be representing the district at the cross country event in February 2020 – Wow, an amazing achievement! A huge well done to everyone who took part.
Personal Challenge Event
7 year 4 and 5 children competed at Sutton Academy in this event. They took turns to sprint, throw and catch, dribble and chest throw. They each had several attempts at each activity and tried to improve on their performance each time. In each activity the children improved their time or score. Keira won a medal for showing the most improvement at dribbling and Lucas with throwing and catching. We had a great time, being the best we could be and the sport’s leaders from Sutton Academy commented on our beautiful manners and team spirit!

Last night we played St Andrew's in the first round of the cup and what a performance we gave! We scored some amazing goals, saved some decent shots and had a defence that we could have only dreamed of last match. The lads worked really hard as a team and put into practice all the things we had talked about in training. Well done Dalestorth, we are really proud of you.

Dalestorth 2 - 9 Kingsway
On Monday 16th September we played our first game in the Kirkby District Football League. The team hadn't even had their first training session, but despite this, the lads all tried so hard and put in 100% effort. We unfortunately lost the game, but scored two great goals. They showed lots of elements of great team work and we identified some areas we can work on in training. We are hugely proud of each player and can't wait for our next match.

Rowing Competition - February 2019
On Thursday these children participated in an Indoor Rowing competition against seven other schools from the district. This was the final heat to place in recent days. The children took part in a boys relay, girls relay and mixed relay, where they had to row as far as they could in their 30 second slot, before changing over. They worked so hard as a team, supporting and encouraging each other, and got better and better as the night went on. Overall on the night we came forth. Amazingly, over the three heats that have taken place, we came in 7th place and therefore have qualified for the district finals on the 7th March. An amazing achievement for a team who for many hadn’t rowed before this evening. Thank you to all the children for getting stuck in at the last minute and having a go!
