Year 3 and 4 - Lynx

Welcome to the Lynx Class!

Mrs Debic                     Mrs Rigby                    Mrs Bennett

Mrs Debic teaches us Monday - Wednesday and Mrs Rigby teaches us Wednesday - Friday. Mrs Bennett works with us everyday.

We are really looking forward to the year ahead. Here you will find photos of some of the things we have been doing along with specific information and letters for our class.

This half term our topic is 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', which is a history based topic exploring the different approaches to crime and punishment that have happened through the years.

Homework will be sent out each Wednesday and should be completed and returned by the following Monday. We will alternate sending English and maths homework each week and it will support the work they have been doing in school that week. The children will be rewarded with a reward chart stamp if they return their homework on time each week over the half term. They will also receive weekly spellings and times tables which they will be tested on each week. Spelling tests are on Fridays and times tables on Thursdays. Please encourage your child to practise their new spellings which will be in their diaries. Please also ensure that you listen to your child read at home regularly, encouraging them to try a wide range of books. Children will receive a reward stamp each week if they have read at least three times at home, but this must be recorded and signed by an adult from home.

We are really looking forward to the term ahead ~ please ask if there's anything else you would like to know!

SPORTS WEEK!

1 minute challenges - the children have worked each day on improving how many times they can throw and catch a ball in one minute!

Our healthy eating workshop with Jessica

We had a very busy and interesting 'Science Week'. We had a session with the RSPB where we looked around our grounds to see how nature-friendly we are! We saw young and mature trees, log-piles, hedges and bushes amongst other things. We had a great time making and tasting our own sherbet and carried out a very interesting osmosis experiment using gummy bears. Ask the children to tell you what happened to the gummy bear which was placed in vinegar! The children loved discovering which colours the ink in different felt tip pens were made from in a chromatography experiment and had a great time making and testing out their own straw rockets. We hope you enjoy looking at a few photos from the week.

An extra surprise we weren't expecting came thanks to Hurricane Ophelia, when the sun and light appeared to change colour. We all found it fascinating and investigated what was happening with a little help from Google!

We were treated to a trip out on our very first day back after summer as the Tour of Britain cyclists biked through Sutton on Wednesday morning!
