Meet the FS1 Team

Our Nursery Children

Each half term we explore a different topic in FS1. We work alongside FS2 and cover a variety of themes on a 2 year cycle.

Our topics for this school year are ...

Autumn 1 - Me and my senses

Autumn 2 - Celebrations

Spring 1 - Winter days

Spring 2 - People who help us

Summer 1 - Bears

Summer 2 - In a land far, far away

We plan and provide activities and experiences linked to our topic covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We carefully observe the children at play and build upon their individual interests.

In FS1 we initially focus mainly on the 3 prime areas of the EYFS.

These are ...

Personal, social and emotional development

Communication and language

Physical Development

These areas are seen as the building blocks, the foundations for learning so that our children are ready and confident for the challenges ahead.

The specific areas of learning are ...

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the world

Expressive arts and design

If you would like to find out more about the EYFS and how to help your child at home, please see the link below 'What to expect, when?' a useful document for parents, providing information on what to expect your child to be doing and how you can help them on their learning journey.

If you are worried or concerned about your child's development, please don't hesitate to talk to us. We are always here to listen and will try to help wherever we can.

Supporting your child's learning journey

If you speak English as an additional language you may find the following helpful to find words and phrases you don't understand. If English is your first language you may also find them interesting to help you discover new languages.

google translate is a good start but you could also try.

www.bab.la The link isn't working but I have checked the web site it is quite a useful one

It can be fun exploring new languages, even if you don't know a lot it is fun to try them out.
